Grace + Devon’s wedding day was the best way to end my wedding season before maternity leave. Last year, I photographed Grace’s brother’s wedding – and it was so special that she and Devon asked me to do theirs as well!
Everything about this wedding had me living a photographer’s dream. The venue – Little Lights on the Lane – is a brand spanking new venue (built by wedding photographers!) in West Branch, Iowa. And guess what. I had the honor of being the first photographer to photograph a wedding there, EVER! Gosh, I was so excited.
Let me tell you. This place was made for photographers. Like, quite literally. Every detail – from where the window light is, to the high ceilings, to the ceremony facing where the sun sets…was all part of the design. It made my job a BREEZE and so much fun, which was super helpful being 7.5 months pregnant! If you’re planning to get married in the Midwest, you’d better check out this venue. Also, the staff was incredible!
One of my favorite parts about Grace + Devon’s wedding was hearing their youth pastor (who married them) talk about how he watched them grow up and become the people they are today. He had known them since they were little and got to be the one to marry them! I also was crying a ton watching their mamas cry…gosh, I can’t imagine my little nugget in my belly getting married one day. I haven’t even given birth yet and I never want to let this kiddo out of my sight. Thankfully I’ve got quite a few years until that happens!
